Wednesday, November 13, 2024

As FiberLight advances through the final quarter of 2024, the momentum from a year marked by transformative milestones is stronger than ever. With groundbreaking investments in autonomous infrastructure, cross-border connectivity, and critical network expansions, FiberLight has cemented its position as a leader in delivering future-ready networking solutions. Here’s a look at the key milestones that propelled our growth in 2024.

$20 Million Investment in Intelligent Infrastructure for Autonomous Systems

In February, FiberLight announced a major $20 million investment in a 100-mile fiber optic infrastructure project along State Highway (SH) 130, near Austin, Texas. This collaboration with the Autonomy Institute marked the creation of the region’s first intelligent infrastructure economic zone. Our high-speed 10 and 100GB connectivity is transforming SH 130 into a fully autonomous corridor, supporting the development of Public Infrastructure Network Nodes (PINNs) to manage autonomous systems. This forward-looking project is paving the way for smart infrastructure that will drive future innovation and economic growth.

Enabling Cross-Border Connectivity Between the U.S. and Mexico

February also saw the launch of new fiber routes from Dallas to Queretaro and Monterrey in Mexico. In partnership with MDC Data Centers and NeuLink, FiberLight provided a secure, diverse pathway for businesses across the U.S.-Mexico border. Querétaro and Monterrey, two of Mexico’s fastest-growing technology hubs, are benefiting from FiberLight’s secure fiber infrastructure, driving cross-border trade and facilitating cloud services. As the first fiber provider to connect through MDC’s Eagle Pass Data Center, we continue to strengthen international collaboration and enable cutting-edge technology solutions.

Expanding Global Connectivity from Virginia Beach

In May, FiberLight expanded its network with a new Point of Presence (POP) at the Globalinx data center and cable landing station in Virginia Beach, Virginia. By delivering wavelength services up to 400 Gbps, FiberLight has created a pivotal access point for global connectivity, linking subsea and terrestrial fiber networks. This expansion supports businesses in the fast-growing Hampton Roads region, while positioning FiberLight as a critical player in the global connectivity ecosystem.

Empowering Texas School Districts with Dark Fiber Networks

In June, FiberLight announced the successful deployment of an 80-mile dark fiber network for the Ector County Independent School District (ECISD) in Odessa, Texas. This secure, reliable network delivers the infrastructure needed to support critical school safety initiatives and enhance digital learning. FiberLight’s commitment to educational advancement is reflected in this project, which benefits 33,500 students and equips them for a tech-driven future.

Fiber Connectivity for Region 16 Schools and Municipalities

In August, FiberLight continued its commitment to empowering education with a contract to deliver a 10 Gbps fiber network for Region 16 Education Service Center (ESC) in the Texas Panhandle. This project will benefit 59 of the region’s 60 school districts, providing fast, reliable connectivity to 80,000 students and enabling the area’s last-mile internet providers to improve their services.
